MRI is a radiological procedure that allows us to see inside the human body without the risk of ionizing radiation. It uses a combination of radiofrequency waves and a magnetic field to generate exquisite images of the human anatomy in a relatively short period of time.
There are no special preparations required prior to having an MRI. Prior to your examination, you will be properly screened by our staff to make sure that you have no contraindication that would preclude you from having an MRI. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing as this will add a greater degree of comfort while being scanned. In the event that you need medication for claustrophobia or pain, contact your referring physician so that he/she may prescribe them to you.
Literally every part of the body can be studied with MRI. In some cases, contrast material may be indicated so as to allow us to better delineate and visualize pathology.
We will have a copy of your results faxed to your referring physician in less than 24 hours. Also, our on-site radiologists are more than happy to discuss your results with your doctor should they need more information about your examination.
You can call our office during working hours or leave a message which will be answered as soon as possible. You can also click on the appointment tab to schedule your examination.
